Who Vaila Health are, and what we do
Updated: Nov 29, 2019
Hi, I’m Julia Langford and I started Vaila in 2018 with my husband, Simon. It all came about when I was offered the opportunity to take over from a GP in St Andrews, who was retiring. He has run a successful private GP clinic for the past 15 years, and both he and his patients really wanted that service to continue. We decided to expand in order to give easier access to our GP clinics, for more people across Perthshire and Fife. We really want to provide you with traditional family General Practice, where you see an experienced local GP at a clinic near you.
We will be growing our clinic hubs across Scotland and the UK, so we can continue to provide face-to-face consultations in every area that we serve. It was really important to us to keep that personal element of GP care that, as a country, we all hold so dear. Many companies solely offer video consulting, and whilst we want to embrace that technology we also want to keep the essence of General Practice intact.
We work with small groups of GPs in each surgery, to ensure continuity for your care. All of our GPs have full General Medical Council (GMC) registration and are appraised every year, plus our clinics are licensed by Health Improvement Scotland.
I have been a Doctor for over 15 years, and a GP for over 10. Originally I’m from Ballachulish, on the West Coast of Scotland. My husband and I decided to move back to Scotland in 2009, having lived and worked in Sydney and London for five years before that. I am a GP Partner in an NHS practice in Dundee, and I have also been doing cosmetic work for the past ten years. Simon has a background in financial recruitment. In 2016 we started our first business together. It is Tay Medispa, in Perth, which offers Cosmetic, Beauty and well-being treatments, as well as Healthcare. In 2018 we won three awards, culminating in a prestigious Industry award for Best New Clinic in the UK and Ireland.
We look forward to welcoming you at Vaila.
